Expand Your Product Offerings

Roland BN-20At the recent NBM Show in Indianapolis, I had the opportunity to speak with plenty of end users, and many of them were asking the same question – “What else can I do with my Roland BN-20?” So, with that in mind, here are some ways to help customers expand their product offerings:

Media selection… Adding new products to your portfolio starts with having a selection of media available that allows our customers to easily go from creating heat transfers for apparel to making custom decals, window or wall graphics, printing posters, or even reproducing photos. Stay up to date with the latest Roland Certified media additions for the BN-20 and our entire inkjet line on the Roland Media web page. We now have 12 different media selections available in the 20-inch size, which are all listed on the BN-20 accessories page. If you’d like to obtain any media samples, simply give our customer service department a call 800-542-2307, or send an e-mail request to They’ll be happy to send you whatever you need.

While most of you are already familiar with Roland’s best-selling HTM2, GCVP an d MCVP products, you may not have had a chance to check out our new WallFlair™ Removable Vinyl or WallFlair Removable Fabric. If you’re not familiar with these great new media offerings, be sure to get samples right away. Both of the WallFlair materials are gaining popularity, especially in the 20-inch size, and they’re allowing BN-20 users to add new applications without changing their current heat transfer workflow.

WallFlair Removable Fabric, as well as our Eco-Sol MAX®. and Eco-Sol MAX 2 inks, have also just received GREENGUARD Gold Certification from UL (Underwriters Laboratories). This certification verifies that these products meet some of the world’s strictest standards for low emissions of VOCs (volatile organic compounds) into indoor air. Another important selling point!

Versatility… Even though all of the media in our lineup is set up with 3″ cores, the BN-20 can easily accommodate rolls that have a 2″ core. The flange guides on the BN-20 are reversible with one side accommodating 3″ cores and the other 2″ cores. The 2″ core seems popular among some photo-based media and inexpensive calendered vinyl media found online. Just a quick tip that might save your customer the time and energy of sourcing a new material for an application they may already have a solution for.

Give Them Knowledge… When talking with customers about why they’re not venturing into new applications, the same excuse comes up often: “I would love to be able to do that, but I’m just not sure how to get it done.” At Roland, we offer ongoing educational opportunities for our users through the live, interactive broadcasts of our Online Webinar Series . Our experienced instructors cover a wide variety of topics, from entry-level print and cut techniques to some of the most advanced software applications in the industry.

Our most popular webinars have been those covering Roland VersaWorks®. (since all Roland users have something to gain from these presentations), but some of the entry-level application webinars have proven very popular as well. There’s something for end users at every level, including presentations geared specifically for BN-20 users looking to expand their product offerings.

All of the webinars are recorded and available to registered owners at any time via the Webinar Archive. This gives viewers a chance to go back and review subjects covered in the webinars at their convenience. We get a lot of positive feedback on our Online Webinar Series, and we’re always looking for new topics to cover. If you have suggestions for future webinar topics, click here to submit your ideas via e-mail. If your topic is selected, we’ll give you credit during the broadcast.
